BMed, MTrauma, FRACS (Orth)
Dr Marcus Simonian is a Queensland and internationally trained Adult and Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Brisbane. He specialises in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, personalised hip and knee replacement, paediatric orthopaedics, and sports and trauma surgery for both adults and children.
He believes in clear communication, evidence-based treatment, and tailoring care to each patient’s goals, lifestyle, and anatomy. Where appropriate, he incorporates minimally invasive and personalised surgical techniques to optimise recovery, function, and long-term outcomes.
Originally from Sydney, Marcus completed his medical degree at the University of New England, graduating in 2013. He later completed a Master of Traumatology through the University of Newcastle in 2016 before undertaking orthopaedic training across Queensland. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2024. He subsequently completed a paediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Queensland Children’s Hospital before undertaking further international subspecialty fellowship
training in Bordeaux, France, in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, as well as hip and knee replacement surgery with a personalised alignment focus.
Marcus has presented and published nationally and internationally in areas including paediatric orthopaedics, trauma, lower limb reconstruction, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He currently works publicly at Queensland Children’s Hospital and Mater Public. He also consults privately in Brisbane.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, cycling, and history. Following his time working in France, wine and French culture have also become a passion, and his children greatly enjoy correcting his French.
