Foot and ankle care - Dr Marcus Simonian

Foot and ankle

Dr Marcus Simonian provides comprehensive foot and ankle care with a particular focus on minimally invasive and reconstructive surgery. He completed advanced fellowship training in Bordeaux, France, under internationally recognised leaders in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, gaining experience in modern techniques designed to reduce soft tissue disruption and optimise recovery.

Minimally invasive (“keyhole”) surgery uses smaller incisions and specialised instruments to address foot and ankle conditions to minimise scarring, postoperative pain, wound complications, and recovery time. Many procedures can be performed as day surgery with regional anaesthesia, allowing patients to mobilise immediately and return home the same day. However, not all conditions are suitable for minimally invasive techniques, and treatment recommendations are always tailored to the individual patient, their anatomy, lifestyle, and goals.

Marcus manages a wide range of foot and ankle conditions including bunions (hallux valgus), forefoot pain, arthritis, tendon disorders, sports injuries, instability, flat feet, Achilles conditions, claw toes, hammer toes, and fractures. He also treats more complex and revision cases where symptoms persist despite previous treatment.

Marcus believes successful foot and ankle surgery begins with careful assessment, clear communication, and understanding what matters most to each patient. Treatment plans are individualised and evidence-based, with a focus on restoring function, improving mobility, and helping patients return safely to work, exercise, sport, and daily activities.

By combining modern surgical techniques with thoughtful rehabilitation planning, Marcus aims to deliver durable outcomes while minimising unnecessary disruption to patients’ lives. Whether treatment involves physiotherapy, injections, orthotics, or surgery, the goal is always to improve comfort, movement, and long-term quality of life.
